Pool fencing site plans in QLD — what compliance actually checks

Queensland has some of the strictest pool barrier laws in the world, and the site plan is where compliance gets demonstrated before anyone stands in the yard.
What the plan must show
- The barrier line — the complete fenced enclosure around the pool, drawn with its position relative to the pool edge and the boundaries
- Gates — marked with their position and swing (self-closing, self-latching, opening AWAY from the pool)
- Barrier heights noted (1200mm minimum effective height)
- The house — because windows and doors opening into the pool area have their own rules
Why draw it before building
Moving a fence after a failed inspection costs real money. Drawing the barrier on a true-scale site plan first shows immediately whether the layout works — whether the gate clears the path, whether the boundary fence can form part of the barrier, and what the distances really are.
